CBI Charges Three Accused in Rs. 50 Lakh Bribery Case Involving CGHS Meerut Hospitals
On October 10, 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a chargesheet against three accused individuals. These individuals are recognised by the names Dr Ajay Kumar, Addl. Director, CGHS Meerut; Lavesh Solanki, Office Supdt., CGHS Meerut; and Raees Ahmad (private person).
They are all alleged to be engaged in a bribery case. A private hospital in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, registered a complaint against these individuals on August 12, 2025. Several hospitals are run by the complainant in and around Meerut with distinct names.
According to the complainant, the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 50 lakh for not de-empanelled the hospitals from the list of CGHS empanelled hospitals. On August 12, 2025, after interrogation, the public servants of the accused admitted to accepting the first instalment of the total bribe money, i.e., Rs. 50 Lakh. To catch the accused public servants and a private person red-handed while accepting the first instalment of the bribe money of Rs. 50 lakh, i.e., Rs. 5 lakh, CBI planned a trap.
CBI carried out searches at the residential locations of the accused, which concluded in the recovery of the cash amount of Rs. 29.50 lakh along with several other incriminating documents from the residence location of the accused named Dr Ajay Kumar.
During the investigation, different types of evidence, spoken, written, and digital, were collected, which proved that the accused were involved in a criminal plan, helped commit the crime, and demanded illegal payments.
