Chandigarh: Advocate Arrested for Asking Rs 30 Lakh Bribe to Influence Divorce Case Outcome
In a recent shocking case, an advocate has been arrested in Chandigarh for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 30 lakh in a divorce case. It happened when a man from Punjab reached out to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), claiming that an advocate was asking for a bribe. As per the complainant, the lawyer assured him he could influence the judicial officer’s decision in his cousin’s divorce case.
The CBI, after registering the complaint, started an inquiry. As part of their investigation, they checked the telephone conversations between the complainant and the advocate. The conversations revealed clear proof of the bribe demand. In one of the audio recordings, the advocate was saying that, “Rishwat de paise kade ghat nahi honde,” which means that the ‘Bribe amount is never reduced.’
The advocate, Jatin Salwan, was arrested in a corruption case. The complainant said that at first, Salwan demanded the full amount all at once. But later, he agreed to take Rs 5 lakh as a first payment. He also mentioned that someone else, on behalf of the judge, would come to take the money.
This case shows serious problems like bribery and dishonesty, even in judicial matters. It also shows that there still might be some people who are unfairly influencing court decisions, which can damage public trust in the justice system of India.
