Exposed: Income Tax Redressal System Sends Copy-Paste Replies to Serious Complaints

A taxpayer filed a test grievance on July 5, 2025, with the Acknowledgement Number 21925231. The reason for this test was to examine whether the Income Tax Department’s online grievance redressal system is functioning properly or simply issuing automated replies.

In that grievance, the taxpayer clearly mentioned that this is a test ticket meant to see if someone genuinely reads what is written. However, despite that, the Income Tax Department closed the grievance on July 7, 2025, and marked it as “RESOLVED.”

What Was Their Response?

They gave taxpayers a generic, copy-paste response, which reads as follows:

“Dear taxpayer, We are still checking the information you submitted in response to a communication (probably a notice or defect in return) for your Income Tax Return for AY 2024-25. If you already filed a revised return, we will process it based on certain rules, checks, and system validations. We will send you an update to your registered email once this processing is complete.”

Why This Is a Problem

This makes it clear that the system is failing, and the real concerns or problems of taxpayers may not be getting proper attention.
