Office Memorandum: Ban on Festival Gift Expenses in Government Offices
The Ministry of Finance (Department of Expenditure), Government of India, shared an office memorandum regarding expenditure on gifts on account of festivals.
The Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, has been issuing instructions from time to time to promote careful and responsible spending and to avoid unnecessary expenses. Continuing these efforts, and to make sure public money is used wisely, it has now been decided that ministries, departments, and other government organizations will not spend money on gifts or related items for Diwali or any other festival.
This office memorandum is issued with the approval of the secretary (expenditure) and will come into effect soon.
