3,000 GST Complaints Received Since Tax Cuts, Says Consumer Affairs Ministry

Nidhi Khare, Consumer Affairs Secretary, announced on Monday, September 29, 2025 on Monday announced that the government’s National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has received 3,000 complaints regarding GST since the execution of reduced taxes.

She added, “We have so far received 3,000 consumer complaints. We are sending them to the CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) for further action.”

She also said that the consumer affairs ministry is keeping a close watch on cases where shoppers are being cheated by fake discounts and not getting the full benefit of lower GST rates. The ministry is using artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbots to better understand complaints from different sectors.

This complaints system has been set up because there are concerns that some shops are not giving customers the full advantage of GST rate cuts, so the government is making its monitoring stronger.
